Biography The Society for Ashland's Preservation was started March 5, 1973 by a committee of interested Ashland People who are concerned about preserving the city's trees and planting more trees. Elizabeth Pastor served as committee chairman of this organization. The other primary indiviuals involved include Hal Morris finance committee, George McCool planting chairman and Andrew Gregersen heads committee to select trees for planting. Vice-chairman is Tom Lobb, and secretary is Fred Reeder. On July 3, 1976 S.A.P. was issued a state charter of incorporation in the state of Ohio. The primary mission was to stimulate interest in and to protect the historic landmarks and worthy natural and man-made environments peculiar to the Ashland Area. Elizabeth Pastor, Mrs. George (Ann) Franklin, and Mrs. Harold (Elizabeth) Weller are the incorporators of the corporation. |

Preface The records for the Society for Ashland's Preservation are divided into two record storage boxes under the following areas. RSB 1 contains general and special interest files related to the Society for Ashland's Preservation and its causes. RSB 2 has two sections, the first part has the files for saving the First National Bank building. In the second part are the files for the Save Money-Save the Jail campaign. The Society for Ashland's Preservation records were presented to the Ashland University Archives by Elizabeth Pastor on June 6, 1995. |
