The Ora Snyder Countryman collection represents an Ashland, Ohio family who provided much support to Ashland College during the early 1900's. The Snyder family lived on a farm located north of Ashland during this time period. Several of the Snyder children attended Ashland College.
The family as represented in this collection was comprised of the following members: Alfred Nolan Snyder, Ross A. Snyder, Miles Jerome Snyder, Alma Leslie Snyder, Ora Ellen Snyder, Anna Eliza Johnson Snyder, Sallie Hostetler Snyder, Lloyd Snyder and Newel Leslie Snyder.
In 1914, the Ashland College Blarney Stone was presented to the freshman class from the farm of A. N. Snyder. In addition, Lloyd Snyder was an active commercial photographer who took many photographs. Some of his photos included early views of the Ashland campus as well as views taken in the Ashland County area.
