Dr. Allen W. Scholl, only son of William Henry and Grace L. (Crawford) Scholl, was born March 15, 1908 on a farm in Seneca County, Ohio located at 83 degrees, 26 minutes West Longitude and 40 degrees, 59 minutes, North Latitude at 12:30 P.M. Standard Sun Time.
Allen was educated in the primary and secondary school system of Seneca Co., Ohio. In 1922 he entered the Fostoria, Ohio High School where he pursued a College preparatory course, winning honors in chemistry and graduation in June of 1926. His education was continued at Ashland University, Ashland, Ohio where he majored in chemistry, physics and mathematics and minored in English, French and Education. While attending college he participated in various activities, was a member of the University band for two years, officer of his class, president of the science club and the first undergraduate teaching assistant in chemistry for two years. At graduation he was eligible for the A. B. the B. Sc. and the B. S. in Education degrees. He chose the B. Sc. degree and graduated in June 1930.
