Scope & Content Introduction

The Fuhrman-Myers family letters were gathered by Effie C. Fuhrman (1876-1941) who was

the youngest daughter of George and Elizabeth Myers. The Myers family was very prominent in Ashland County. Their work led to the founding of the F.E. Myers and Brothers Company of Ashland which manufactured pumps and other farm implements. In addition, the Myers family were very supportive of the Ashland community and Ashland College. Today, many of their contributions can still be seen throughout the city of Ashland. Some of these contributions include The Myers band shell, P.A. Myuers home on Center Street, Myers Hall and John C. Myers Convocation Center on the University campus.

These letters provide a unique personal view into one of the most prominent families of

Ashland County during the late-1800's to the mid-1900's.
